Join other community members to view and discuss the local implications of climate change issues raised in the 9-part award winning documentary Years Of Living Dangerously.
This time we will view the "A Dangerous Future" episode where Matt Damon explores the impact of extreme heat on health, Michael C Hall visits Bangladesh to see how rising seas will trigger mass migration across the world and Thomas Friedman concludes his Middle East investigation, revealing how climate change can take a volatile political situation and push it over the edge.
Coffee, tea and biscuits will be served. For questions in relation to this event please contact Skye on 5662 9380.
Hi there, unfortunately we have had to cancel the last of the sessions due to low numbers. I thank you for your continued support of the sessions and interest in this important subject matter. If you have any comments or suggestions to make for the future please feel free to contact me. In the meantime, we all have opportunities to make positive change in our lives and discuss the issues with others in the hope to make meaningful change throughout our community. Kindest Regards, Skye
Thank you to those who attended last week. It was again a lively discussion. For those interested in how climate change may impact storms, I posted the following on the SGSN Sustainability Gippsland Chat which may interest you. The Community Talks Climate session last week raised questions about how climate change is changing the nature and magnitude of storms. The word from the Climate Council is that "more intense rainfall and higher sea levels have combined to make these kinds of storms [east coast lows] more damaging". Feel free to use the chat function to raise any pertinent info that you may come across or comment you would like to make. We will be showing the actual Episode 8 (sorry again about that!) later in the month, so stay tuned. Regards, Skye
Hi everyone, looking forward to seeing you again next week. Don't forget to invite a friend or two to join you if you can. Kind regards, Skye
