A new, state-of-the-art wetland is being constructed on the outskirts of Morwell to clean stormwater running through the industrial area before it enters Waterhole Creek. Latrobe City Council and Conservation Volunteers Australia are turning bare paddocks into a thriving ecosystem, providing habitat for waterbirds, frogs, fish, reptiles and insects. When completed, walking tracks will allow the community to use the site for recreational and educational purposes. During September, thousands of water plants, shrubs and trees need to go in the ground, and to make this happen, we need your help! If you would like to be a part of this innovative project, get outdoors, meet new people and help the environment, please contact Tamara at Gippsland@cva.org.au.
