Tuesday 12 July
0800 Leave Leongatha 1030 Tom’s Paddock, 225 Burns Rd, Glenburn Vic 3717. Tour of farm with lunch provided. Tom was our keynote speaker at our Agridiversity day. Tom’s ethical farm practices involve observation, care of the natural biology and enhancing his farm’s biodiversity. Food production on Tom’s farm is about capturing the sun’s energy in his grass and turning it into nutrient dense, chemical free food.
1330 leave Glenburn 1630 Thurgoona Country Club Resort, 1 Evesham Place, Thurgoona. Check in. 1900 Dinner with Rob Fenton, who was our expert speaker at the Resilience through diversity field day and the local Landcare group Wed 13 July 0830 Leave Country Club travel to National Environment Centre (or leave at 0800 and walk after loading bus) The NEC is a specialist TAFE College which includes a 190 hectare certified organic farm, which is run on agro-ecology principles. The farm produces fat-tail lambs for the local farmers' markets. It has a small olive grove, red-gum fire wood-lots and is just in the development phase of a boxed vegetable program, Bardi-grub production, pasture based poultry and pork, honey and dryland herb production. 1130 Leave Thurgoona, NSW 1300 Arrive Benalla for lunch 1345 Farm visit 1500 leave for home 1900 Arrive Leongatha
