Virtual Centre for Climate Change Innovation Marketplace Event

Event registration is now open for the Virtual Centre for Climate Change Innovation Marketplace Event and Grants at the following link with registrations welcome at any of the locations listed below.

The Gippsland Event is on September 20 at Federation University, Churchill. This email follows on earlier email sent by DELWP as a 'save the date" for Gippsland on September 20th.

You can register to attend the Climate Change Innovation Marketplace events at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/climate-change-innovation-marketplace-events-tickets-37472005778

In late July Minister D'Ambrosio announced $4.7m in funding for Climate Change Innovation grants and workshops. These Climate Change Innovation Grants and Marketplace Events are part of the work program of the Virtual Centre for Climate Change Innovation (VCCCI).

The purpose of this email is to provide dates for the Marketplace events and a fact sheet on the Grants program. Please send this email on to any colleagues who may be interested and forward to your networks.

The series of Climate Change Innovation Marketplace events are to be held in September and October as follows: September Thursday 14 Bendigo Tuesday 19 Shepparton Wednesday 20 Gippsland (Churchill campus, Federation Uni) Thursday 21 Melbourne CBD & Wangaratta Wednesday 27 Geelong Thursday 28 Mildura October Tuesday 3 Warrnambool Thursday 5 Melbourne CBD Monday 9 Ballarat Wednesday 18 Horsham

The Marketplace events are designed to actively promote ideas identification, dialogue and deliberation on the challenges of climate change and the potential for innovative solutions to these challenges. With the exception of a brief introduction to the Climate Change Innovation Grants, the content will be entirely that of the participants. A key focus of the events is to assist organisations in developing collaborative partnerships and also generate partnership projects for the Climate Change Innovation Grants funding opportunity.

There is a VCCCI website that will be updated as more information becomes available. VCCCI webpage: www.climatechange.vic.gov.au/vccci

Attached is a fact sheet about the Climate Change Innovation Grants for your information.

The application guidelines are currently with the Minister's office and will be released once approved. Please feel free to circulate the fact sheet and the above information regarding the Marketplace events to your network.

Please go to the Group for the Invite and conference information

Living with bushfire is a reality in Gippsland and the resilience of the community relies on shared learnings and an understanding of how fire behaves, as well as its impact on the environment. To explore the issues related to fires and the community, “Living with Bushfire: A Community Conference” will be held at Federation University Australia’s Gippsland campus in Churchill on Friday 3 October and Saturday 4 October 2014, with a separate field trip session taking place on Sunday 5 October.

Conference themes 1. Fire and the environment • How fire shapes our environment and our understanding of its impact • How plants and animals recover after a fire event • What research is taking place and how this can be used 2. Fire and the community • Personal experiences gained over the past 15 years • How at risk we are as a community and what we can do about it • Understanding bushfire behaviour • Research regarding household protection
