Community Renewable Energy Guide Workshops (State Government) Community Renewable Energy Guide Workshops (State Government)

The Victorian Government is actively supporting the development of community owned renewable energy projects.

The Minister for Energy and Resources, the Hon Lily D'Ambrosio, launched the Victorian Government's Community Renewable Energy Guide, "Guide to Community-Owned Renewable Energy for Victorians" in November 2015.

The Guide has been prepared as a resource for community groups interested in developing community owned renewable energy projects. Community owned renewable energy projects are projects in which a community of people is involved in initiating, developing, operating, and benefitting from, a renewable energy or energy efficiency initiative. This community might be based on geography – like a town or suburb – or be based on common-interest. These community groups may be new to community energy, or already be part way down the path of establishing a project. The Guide consolidates existing knowledge and resources and provides links to further information, resources and assistance.

The Guide is available to download at: http://www.energyandresources.vic.gov.au/energy/sustainable-energy/community-energy

Copies will also be available at the Workshops.

Community owned renewable energy projects offer local sustainable energy solutions to generate and use electricity, heat, and fuel in ways that: • Maximise local ownership and decision making • Generate jobs • Use resources efficiently and sustainably • Match energy production to local energy needs and circumstances • Help address climate change. You are invited to attend one of ten Community Renewable Energy Workshops being delivered by the Department of Economic Development, Jobs Transport and Resources. The workshops will be facilitated by four members of the Coalition for Community Energy (http://c4ce.net.au/) - Embark, Moreland Energy Foundation, the Alternative Technology Association and the Community Power Agency.

Tickets are free of charge and available at the following website: http://communityrenewableenergyworkshops.eventbrite.com.au

We look forward to working with you to support the development of community owned renewable energy projects.
