CLIMATE CHANGE 2016: Beyond Paris - 1.5 C fact or fiction? CLIMATE CHANGE 2016: Beyond Paris - 1.5 C fact or fiction?

At the UN Paris climate conference Australia pledged to take more action to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. Is enough being done? If not, what's stopping us? What are the costs and benefits to our community of reducing our reliance on fossil fuels? These themes will be discussed by David Karoly (Professor of Atmospheric Science at Melbourne University), Professor John Freebairn (Ritchie Chair in Economics at Melbourne University) and Carol Ride (Convenor of Psychology for a Safe Climate).

PHILLIP ISLAND PEOPLE'S CLIMATE MARCH

On the last weekend in November, people's marches are being held around Australia and the world to coincide with the start of the United Nations talks in Paris on climate change. A major rally is being held in Melbourne on 27 November. Residents of South Gippsland can come together to voice their concerns about climate change and call for strong action at our march from Newhaven, across the bridge to San Remo. The march and after-event are family friendly with music and suggestions about how we can all make a difference.
