Kongwak Hills Love Food Hate Waste Evening Kongwak Hills Love Food Hate Waste Evening

We have arranged to screen the movie "Just Eat It" at the Kongwak Hall on Friday 18th September. We will be cooking a community meal which encourages us all to make the most of what we have currently growing in our gardens or stored away in our pantries/freezers. The event will be open to the public and officially starts at 7 pm. We will be charging $8/head and everyone must RSVP to Sue Mooney on 56574490 or email snsmooney@bigpond.com by Wednesday 16th September. We would appreciate any donations of eggs, seasonal vegetables, left over bread, so if any of our group have produce available and/or would like to help with the cooking please contact Sue. Our Group works with the local community around Kongwak, and also with the Landcare Networks and Shire Councils in Bass Coast and South Gippsland to co-ordinate activities, on public and private land, that protect native vegetation, restore waterways and rehabilitate the land. We assist our community with these activities and provide opportunities for visitors to also be involved. We learn from others, share what we know and reflect the interests of our members in our projects. We collaborate with the Kongwak School, Kongwak community groups and our neighbouring Landcare groups to connect people through education and on-ground action. Although our focus is on caring for the land, social connection and having fun are equally important. We hope to contribute to positive change in our area where landslips are noticeably less, vegetation corridors link patches of bush and the landscape is diverse and sustainably productive. We strive to raise Kongwak’s profile as an open and caring community.
