Winter Pruning Workshop Winter Pruning Workshop

Mark Brammer from the Strzelecki Heritage Apple Farm will return to the Manna Community Garden for his popular course on Winter Pruning this August 2017.

Mark and his wife Margaret are the custodians of a large collection of Heritage Apple Trees, which they established 17 years ago on a three-acre farm at the top of the Strzelecki Ranges.  The apple trees are grown sustainably using permaculture techniques. Mark will teach the essentials and benefits of pruning your fruit trees in the winter, and discuss different types of trees and which ones benefit more from a summer, rather than a winter prune. He will demonstrate pruning on a variety trees in the Foster community area.

Polyfaces Film Night Polyfaces Film Night

A free community documentary film event held at the Fish Creek Memorial Hall, hosted by South Gippsland Shire Council and Manna Gum Community House, supported by the Agricultural Climate Adaptation Project Southern Gippsland and Bass Coast Shire Council. Polyfaces is a joyful film about connecting to the land and the community. Produced over four years is follows a 4th generation farming family who use the symbiotic relationships of animals and their natural functions to produce high quality, nutrient-dense products. The evening includes special guest speakers Tom Nicholas from Healthy Soils Australia and Amelia Bright from Amber Creek Farm. A complimentary plate of seasonal, local food is also included. Our Manna Gum Shop and Lounge is the ideal place to meet people and have a chat over a hot drink and a home baked sweet. We also have a great selection of recycled clothing, toys, homewares booked and locally made handicrafts. We are situated alongside the Manna Community Garden.
