Kurnai College has been a ResourceSmart school for about 5 years. The backbone of the move towards sustainability has been driven by Barb Wiegandt who got the school engaged in many of the Modules when the program was called Waste Wise, facilitated by Pat Armstrong. The school was one of 5 schools in the local area, engaged in a Pilot for Waste Wise, supported by Gippsland Water, mecu, Powerworks and Latrobe City Council.

Since then the school has maintained a great recycling system that has engaged the whole school. We are currently revisiting the Core Module and revising our SEMP.

We have a vege garden created by the Hands On Learning Team, managed by Mick Stubbs. Mick and students have done an awesome job getting the garden up and running in 2013.
