Meet The Bees Field Day

The Field Day is to provide new and aspiring beekeepers with a chance to learn about beekeeping and get hands-on experience with bees. Sessions will be conducted in small groups so that participants can interact with experienced beekeepers and have their questions answered. Most sessions are under cover. Open hive demonstrations will be held and require a minimum of a face veil. A full bee suit is recommended. Cost of the event is $10 per adult and school age children are free. A demonstration session by women will be a feature of the Field Day to show techniques for handling beekeeping equipment and hives.

The group supports and promotes beekeeping and beekeepers across South Gippsland. The group meets on the second Thursday of each month and provides guest speakers, hands-on demonstrations, mentors, and updates on beekeeping. While some members are commercial beekeepers with hundreds of hives, many members are amateurs with only a few hives. The group has a strong focus on beekeeping education, sustainable agriculture and appreciating the role of bees in farming and the natural environment. New members are always welcome.
