Ever wondered how to graft your own fruit trees? Interested in heritage fruit trees, or do you know of a hidden treasure in an old orchard which might be worth cultivating? Grafting expert Neil Barraclough will bring his wealth of experience to this afternoon workshop, where heritage apple and pear “scions” (small branches of the desired variety) will be available for you to practise grafting on to rootstocks (the vigorous, robust, “wild” base). Plan your garden to have trees fruiting for an extended season using early and late fruiting varieties.
Cost: Entry by gold coin donation. Rootstocks will be available to purchase for $5 (non-members) or $4 for members. Heritage apple and pear scions will be available free of charge.
If raining, the event will be held indoors in the Arc Switchroom.
Please RSVP to Rosemary via email at yinnarcg@gmail.com and circulate the flyer to your networks.
NB: Because Neil would like to provide individual grafting tuition to each participant at the workshop, there will be an earlier than usual start time of 1pm and a later finish time of 4pm to allow time for him to work with everyone.

Join us for a traditional Italian Passata cook-up! We will be making "Salsa addormentata" which roughly translates as "sleeping sauce" ie you can use it 'in your sleep', ready-made for convenient use. Cost of workshop still to be decided but will need to cover the cost of tomatoes, onions, insurance, venue hire, electricity for cooking, etc. Approximately $7 members / $12 non-members. Thanks to those 20 or so who have already expressed interest, you have secured your place. We have space for approximately another 20 people - get in quick to avoid disappointment! Send an email to yinnarcg@gmail.com if you'd like to come. Start collecting glass pasta sauce jars with lids (not plastic lids). BYO chopping board and knife. See you there!
