FAQs

What is Sustainability Gippsland?

We're connecting people within Gippsland who are involved in sustainability. It's about groups and events, but anyone can get involved.

Do I need an account?

You can still see what events and groups are around Gippsland with out, but if you want to RSVP to an event or make a comment on a group page then set up an account - it's easy and completely free.

What's with the icons?

Groups - a group of people working on an idea together.

Events - an event, run by a group.

Businesses - a Gippsland business offering sustainability services and/or practicing sustainability in their every-day operations.

Do I need to start a group?

Only if you want to! You still "RSVP" to events and comment on other groups without being a leader.

How do I make an event?

Any group leader can set up an event. Make a group page and then set up your event - it's easy!

What are 'Group Leaders'?

Group Leaders are people who manage a group on the site. If you make a group you're automatically its leader, whilst other group leaders can make you a leader of their groups.

Why are some users' contact details hidden?

All users can choose to have their contact details hidden from the site. Often, group leaders will be okay with people seeing their email and phone number, to better organise events.

Who can create a Business?

Any registered user can create a listing for a business on Sustainability Gippsland. This way you can create a listing for your favourite local solar installer, etc.

However only people authorised by the business listed are able to become a ‘Business Owner’. Authorisation is checked by the website’s administrators.

What’s the difference between a Business’ Sustainable services and their Sustainable business practices?

Sustainable services are the services the business offers to their customers.
Sustainable business practices are the sustainable things they do in their every-day operation.
